Alethia Whitaker Johnson Green, 100, died Saturday, December 6, 2014.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Scotland Neck. Interment will follow at the Trinity Episcopal Cemetery. The Reverend Canon E.T. Malone, Jr. will be presiding.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 8, 2014 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James R. Kitchin, 5070 NC Highway 258, Scotland Neck.

Alethia was born on June 29, 1914 in Scotland Neck to Kate Whitaker and George Herbert Johnson. She graduated from Scotland Neck High School and attended Saint Mary’s College, graduating in the class of 1933. Alethia was a lifelong member of Trinity Episcopal Church and of the Altar Guild.

She is survived by her daughters, Alethia Green Eason and husband Robert D. of Morehead City and Mary Green Kitchin and husband James R. of Scotland Neck; her sons, George Chancellor Green, III and wife Marjorie W. and Thomas Suiter Green and wife Susan D. all of Scotland Neck; eight grandchildren, Bryan Dobson, Robb Eason, Brandon Eason, Rich Kitchin, Ann G. Floyd, Katherine K. Bryant, Claire G. Scolnick, and Spruill G. Mayhew; and fourteen great-grandchildren, Parker Eason, Corry Eason, Deborah Hall Kitchin, Law Kitchin, Jayme Kitchin, Jackson Bryant, Mary Hanna Bryant, Bode Scolnick, Tanner Scolnick, Suiter Mayhew, Ben Mayhew, Sallie Mayhew, David Dobson, and Caroline Dobson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Episcopal Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 372, Scotland Neck, NC 27874 or to the Scotland Neck Memorial Library, P.O. Box 126, Scotland Neck, NC 27874.

Arrangements are being handled by Letchworth Funeral Home in Scotland Neck.
