Stanley Earl Stroud, 91, passed away on Monday, May 29, 2017 at Our Community Hospital in Scotland Neck.
Stanley was born on July 6, 1925 in Oak City, NC to the late Joseph Ernest Stroud and Callie Medford Stroud. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many. Stanley worked in retail sales for many years and as a meat cutter at A&P Food Store. He loved to fish, work on old cars, and spend time with his family.
In addition to his parents Stanley was preceded in death by his wife, Theora Phillips Stroud; his brothers, Wesley Stroud, Lindsey Stroud, William Stroud, and Joseph Stroud; and his sister, Lucille Sills.
Stanley is survived by his daughter, Sue Stroud Davis and husband Bruce of Scotland Neck; his sons, Philip Earl Stroud and wife Susan of Duck, Ernest Hugh Stroud and wife Phyllis of Scotland Neck, and Jim Stroud of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, Wendy Davis Harrington and husband Daniel of Sumter, SC, Anna Davis Perry and husband D.J. of Scotland Neck, Hugh Stroud of Scotland Neck, Todd Stroud of Greenville, Kevin Stroud and wife Stephanie of Tyner, Natalie Stroud Drummond of Kitty Hawk, Chauncey Stroud of Raleigh, and Ashley Stroud Baker and husband Lee of Raleigh; and his great-grandchildren, Taylor Harrington, Trinity Harrington, Beau Perry, Briar Perry, Ava Marie Perry, Dawson Stroud, Mary Katherine Stroud, Lucy Stroud, Earl Stroud, Isaac Drummond, Pia Drummond, Bailey Baker, and Grayson Baker.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at the Letchworth Funeral Home Chapel in Scotland Neck. Interment will follow at Hobgood Cemetery. The Reverend Matthew Jones will be presiding.
The family will receive friends after the service at the cemetery.
