Lynwood Dickens, 86, of Whitakers, NC passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2017.

He was born in Edgecombe County, NC on November 21, 1930 to the late Norman and Minnie Lilley Dickens. He and Emma Lee are active members of the Hickory Baptist Church in Whitakers, NC

Other than his mother and father he was preceded in death by sisters, Mildred Dickens and Louise Dickens Vick; and his brothers, Robert Dickens, Norman Dickens, Jr. and Mahlon Dickens.

Lynwood is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Emma Lee; his son, Lynwood Allan Dickens and his wife Janice of Whitakers, NC; two sisters, Minnie Dickens Lewis of Aulander, NC and Dorothy Dickens Phelps of Scotland Neck, NC; his grandson, Roger Dickens and his wife Jackie of Flemington, NJ; his granddaughter, Jamie Hoad and her husband Ryan of Zebulon, NC and his great-grandson, Paul Dickens of Flemington, NJ.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 11, 2017 from 10:00 am to 12:00 Noon at Hickory Baptist Church of Whitakers.

Following the visitation a celebration of his life service will be held at 12:00 Noon with Rev Doctor Wendy Edwards officiating.

There will be a private interment at Sunnyside Cemetery.
