Mr. Joyel Dudley “Dud” Vick age 85 of Rich Square, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at the Rich Square Manor of Rich Square, NC.
He was born on February 10, 1932 to the late Richard and Sybil Vick. Mr. Vick was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Aulander, NC. Dud served his country with the National Guard. He worked as a Maintenance Supervisor for the Town of Rich Square for a number of years until retiring. Dud enjoyed music, playing the guitar and fishing. He served two terms as a Rich Square Town Commissioner.
Other than his parents Mr. Vick is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Morris Vick, sister, Hazel Futrell, brothers, James R. Vick and Thomas Vick.
Dud is survived by his son, Richard “Ricky” Vick and his wife Elizabeth of Rich Square, NC; sister, Dorothy E. Brinkley of Chesapeake, VA; two granddaughters, Jennifer Vick Byrum of Roanoke Rapids, NC and Stacey Renee Vick of Murfreesboro, NC; great-grandson, Hayden Byrum of Roanoke Rapids, NC and great-granddaughter, Alaiya Vick of Murfreesboro, NC.
The family will receive friends Friday, February 2, 2018 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service of Rich Square.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at11:00 am at the Chapel of Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service of Rich Square with the Rev. John Keeter and Rev Michael Brian Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Rich Square.
