James Thomas Wilkinson Jr. age 85 of Enfield passed away on April 8, 2017 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC.
He was born on March 28, 1932 to the late James and Marion Wilkinson in Tarboro, NC. He graduated from the University of South Carolina and remained a devoted Gamecocks fan all of his life. He was married to Rhet on June 14, 1958. Jim was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. He worked forty-three years with the Department of Motor Vehicles as a Bus Instructor. Jim was an avid golfer and a charter member of Scotfield Country Club in Enfield, NC and Duck Woods Country Club in Southern Shores, NC. He was known to his golfing buddies as “Jimmy Nut”. He was a member of the Pit Crew at the Black Pelican in Kitty Hawk, NC. Jim loved the beach and all of his beach family. He was also a Mason for most of his adult life.
Other than his mother and father Jim was preceded in death by his wife Henrietta “Rhet” and his son James “Jim” Thomas Wilkinson, III.
Survivors include his daughter, Perrin Wilkinson Gardner and her husband Willie “Buck” of Scotland Neck, NC; sister, Marion “Sis” Wilkinson Scott of Scotland Neck, NC; grandson, Bryan Gardner of Scotland Neck, NC; two nieces, Debby Scott Hopkins and her husband Tim of Scotland Neck, NC, Susan Scott Holliday and her husband Dennis of Scotland Neck, NC and number 2 Son, Foster Forbes and his wife Cathy of Kitty Hawk, NC. Also surviving are many great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Monday, April 10, 2017 from 7:00-8:00 pm at Letchworth Funeral Home of Scotland Neck, NC.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Trinity Episcopal Cemetery of Scotland Neck, NC, with the Rev. Ted Malone and Rev. Camden Simon officiating.
