GLEN ST. MARY, FL – James Edward Conner, age 69, formerly of Ahoskie, NC, passed away on July 3, 2018 at the St. Vincent’s Riverside Hospital in Jacksonville, Fl. After a short illness.
Mr. Conner was born on November 6, 1948 to Lloyd and Sarah Belle Vaughan Conner in Windsor, NC. James was a long-distance truck driver for many years. He started driving the truck with his daddy at the age of 14. James was given a seventeen-year pin and was awarded “Million Mile-Accident-Free Driver in 2015 from Transport America. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend that will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Earl Conner.
James is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Baker Conner, of the home, formerly of Ahoskie, children, Billie Jo Ivey and husband Sam of Ahoskie, Mary Clements and fiancé’ Brian Shafer of Roanoke Rapids, NC, grandchildren; Alston Hathaway, Tyler Hathaway, and Caleb Ivey all of Ahoskie, Bobby Clements and Sarah Clements of Roanoke Rapids, NC; two sisters; Sarah Turner and Peggy Whitaker, both of Colerain, NC, two brothers; Wayne Conner of Ahoskie, NC, and Ray Conner of Woodland, NC; three great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 7, 2018, from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC to celebrate James’ life.
