KELFORD, NC – Harold Leslie Parker, age 62, passed away on April 27, 2017 at Vidant Roanoke Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie, NC.
Mr. Parker was born in Bertie County, NC, on June 17, 1954, a son of Vauda Hoggard Parker and the late Troy Lee Parker, Sr. He was a member of Kelford Baptist Church and in his younger years, he enjoyed hunting with his friends. Leslie worked in the Roxobel ABC Store and later took over as manager in the Powellsville location. He was a member of the Kelford Volunteer Fire Department for over thirty-five years, serving as Chief for thirty-three years. Leslie and his wife, Sue, also owned and operated the Quik Bite in Roxobel until his health forced them to close.
Besides his father, Leslie was predeceased by a brother, Wayne Parker.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 40 years, Suzanne Cote’ Parker, his mother, Vauda Hoggard Parker of Kelford, NC; a daughter, Christie Jernigan of Windsor, NC; a step daughter, Vicki Manucci and husband, John of Cherry Hill, NJ; four step sons, Robert Kliesh of Souderton, PA, John Kliesh and wife, Leslie of Yardley, PA, Alan Kliesh and wife, Kim of Morrisville, PA, and Thomas McGoldrick of Penndell, PA; three brothers, Sterling Parker and wife, Beverly of Outer Banks, NC, Troy Lee Parker Jr. and wife, Judy of St. Johns, NC, and Bailey Parker and wife, Donna of Kelford, NC; 9 grandchildren and step grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his devoted buddy whom he loved spending time with, “Rabbit”, his cat.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 30, 2017, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Rich Square, NC, and other times at the home.
A celebration of life graveside service will be held on Monday, May 1, 2017, at 11:00 am at the Roxobel-Kelford Cemetery, Roxobel, NC, with Rev. H. C. Boschen, officiating.
