MURFREESBORO, NC – Gene Louis Hardin, age 82, passed away on March 10, 2018, at the Vidant Roanoke Chowan Hospital of Ahoskie, NC.

Mr. Hardin was born in Manila, Philippines, on November 13, 1935, a son of the late John Charles Hardin and Mary Louise Deanes Hardin. Gene had retired from the U.S. Navy as a Master Chief Petty Officer, after 27 years of serving his country.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin sister, Joan Hardin Parker, brother Charles Hardin, and grandmother, Mary Peele Deanes.

Left to cherish his memory are his nephews, Jeffrey Parker and Gregory Parker, niece, Lorri Parker Varnum, nephew, Michael Hardin, and nieces, Belinda Howell, Mary Beth Parker, Kathy Jo Page, and Kimberly Cribb. Gene is also survived by a half brother and sister, John Mervyn Hardin of Sydney, Australia and Katherine Whiteway of Forest Hills, Australia.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Friday, March 16, 2018, at 1:00 pm, at the Murfreesboro Baptist Church with Rev. Lane Bass officiating.

So sorry to hear of Genes passing. His gentle spirit will be missed at our office.
He has always been so nice . He drove along way to see us and we appreciated all of his stories he shared with us.

Mr. Hardin was a quiet unassuming person. He volunteered at the Murfreesboro Nutrition Site and did so without a lot of fanfare. We will miss him!

My deepest condolences to the Hardin family and friends for the loss of your loved one Louis. Hope and comfort comes from God’s wonderful promise for the loved ones we have lost in death to be fulfilled very soon right here on a brand new Paradise Earth by his son Jesus Christ Acts 24:15; John 5: 28,29; Revelation 21: 1-5.

So sorry to hear of Gene’s passing. Was thought a lot of by many at the Murfreesboro Senior Nutrition Site. He will be greatly missed. Such a kind person!
