AULANDER, NC – Abner Lee Cooke, age 42, passed away suddenly on April 4, 2017 at the Vidant Roanoke Chowan Hospital.

Mr. Cooke was born on June 26, 1974 to Gurnie Cooke and Louise Cullipher Cooke in Ahoskie, NC. Abner has always worked in the grocery business. He enjoyed watching all types of sports, especially a true fan of the NC State Wolf Pack and the Dallas Cowboys. Abner was a loving son and husband. He will be deeply missed by all those that knew him.

Abner is preceded in death by his father, Gurney Cooke.  Left to cherish his memory is his wife Diana; his mother, Louise Cullipher Cooke of Ahoskie, NC; and daughter, Katherine Renee Greer of Illinois; along with several aunts and uncles.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 7, 2017, from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at 2:00 pm at the Job Cemetery, Aulander, NC.
